Our Story

Alvin “Spike” Ehrhardt’s name has been synonymous with exceptional customer service since 1959, when he joined the work force at the age of 16 in a Sandy’s restaurant.  Through hard work, ambition and his forward-thinking to value the customer experience, Spike became part owner of the first Sandy’s restaurant in Hannibal, MO in 1965.  Over the next 32 years, Spike’s dedication to his customers resulted in owning and operating more than 60 Hardee’s restaurants.

In 1988, Spike opened a Super 8 Hotel in Macon, MO.  It was his first hotel and he brought to it the same level of customer-focus that served him so well in his restaurants.  Spike’s son, Scott, eventually joined him as a partner in the business.  Spike and Scott now own and operate a total of 19 hotels throughout Illinois and Missouri…always ensuring they instill the importance of valuing your customer.

As they say, “Culture begins at the top” and that commitment to customer service is evident in every Ehrhardt Hospitality location.  As Ehrhardt Hospitality continues to grow, each hotel strives to heed Spike’s advice to, “Stay focused on the customer”.

"Was instantly blown away upon arrival at the cleanliness and colors when walking in. The room was immaculate! The lighting in the rooms made it more uplifting and the colors of the room added to vibe. The front desk was wonderful and accommodating as well. Was quiet, which is hard to find in some hotels due to the echoing factor down the halls. Best nights sleep in a while. First time staying here and definitely plan to again in the future.
